New Month

 

It's March already!  It's been so rainy here and we have been hoping for snow for the last two weeks.  I know, I know but we just don't see it much around here so when they forecast it I just get too excited.  But all I've been seeing is rain.  Little Fran keeps looking out the window waiting to see something.  Maybe a couple of birds here and there but she just kills me how she perches up at that window.  I've been working on a new yarny project this past week and it's so far been lots of fun.  I forgot what Anna is laughing at I'm sure it is me.  You can follow along with me on my Ravelry project page.

After five years I finally have a back-splash in my kitchen!  I'm so excited to have this and have been waiting for a long time to put one in.  I'm so excited that I baked you an apple pie!  Yum!  I'll leave you with my wise fur baby Mustard who is watching over my log cabin squares.  (I'm getting close I have just two more to make!) 

2015 Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge - January 6 & 7

Hi :)  Today I'm posting my starts from the 6th:

It's the cutiest little bunny!  I got just a little start.  It's hard to stitch during the weekdays with work and all.  Been some long days at the day job!  Here's what I got done though:

Day 7 is a stocking I'm making for my mom :)  so it's great to get a start on it.  However after January it will need to take a back seat to my stocking as my goal is to get mine finished for this Christmas.

This is appropriately called "Home for Christmas" and it's perfect due to we started a new tradition to have our Christmas in the mountains in my mom and aunts new house.  This past Christmas was our first and I don't remember a Christmas as perfect as this one was.  It was so special and mom wanted it that way.  My entire family was together including my in laws and we celebrated my getting past my cancer surgeries and chemo.  So this stocking is dedicated to our new tradition:

and what I managed to get done.  I did go to knitnite last night so I didn't get far at all but that is ok.  I'm not sweating it!

2015 Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge - January 1

For the January 1st start I've got Happy Halloween by the Sweetheart Tree.

This is how much I was able to get started today.  Not a whole lot as it was a very busy day of cooking, shopping and working on taking down Xmas decor.

November Wipocalypse

I realized that I completely skipped over October's WIPocalypse!  So the topic of the month is:  What are your favorite and least favorite materials to use in your stitching?  I'd have to say my favorite material to stitch on has so far been the fabric on my Something Wicked Mystery Stitch By Samsarah Designs Belfast Petit Point linen. 

It's been a great fabric to work with and it is just adorable with the little polka dots! 

The material that I least like is this metalic gold thread that I'm using on Fredrick here:

It's hard to see it in this picture but there is quite a bit that needs to be stitched in the red books along the bottom.  I've managed to do the top of most of the books but still have the bottom.  I think I keep not working on this because of this thread!  That is how much I hate it.  I may need to break down and get Thread Heaven conditioner and see if that will make a difference.

So that is my little update.  Looking back I got quite a bit accomplished! 

Quiet Morning

I love quiet mornings don't you?  Something about having the whole morning to yourself.  The house is so quiet I could have heard a pin drop.  I kid you not!  I don't get many mornings or days like that but every morning now since Anna has started Middle School and has to be at school so early and hubby is off to work.  I have a good 30-45 minutes to myself.  Great for working on my stitching or knitting before stepping out to work.

Visiting Mom

Last weekend we went up to North Carolina to visit my mom and aunt.  I love get away and just relax.  Been so hectic lately at work and this is exactly what was needed.  I sat most of the morning out on her deck trying to photograph the hummingbirds - they didn't care if you were out there with them.  They are just so cute!  Was a great weekend and escape from the terribly hot weather we had been having.  It's finally just starting to cool down a little bit. 

Today is a lovely rainy day.  I love days like this because I can sit and stitch for hours if I want.  Rainy days make me sleepy though.  I may have to sit this afternoon and watch a couple of episodes of The Walking Dead. I've been watching past seasons in anticipation of the new episodes coming next month.  Can't wait!
